- --You shouldnt have any trouble over local calls but you may have
- trouble with long distance. The problems can arise if your LD
- provider uses voice compression schemes. For example if they use
- a 32 Kbps ADPCM (adaptive differential PCM) type channel it may
- not accurately reproduce the phase and amplitute changes in your
- modems signal at the far end. Local exchanges convert the the modem
- signal into a 64 kbps stream. V.34 standard supports 64 kbps mu law systems
- but i'm not certain about compressed channels - I doubt it. If you
- are having trouble on long distance, call your provider and find out
- if they use compressed channels. If your in Alberta - stick with AGT !
